The desktop app

Text Edit MD reads, edits, and prints documents locally on your computer. It does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, or document uploads. Remote images and scripts are blocked. Links you explicitly open launch in your web browser, where that website’s own policies apply.

The app saves preferences locally and keeps recovery copies before replacing existing files. Those backups contain document contents and are stored in your Windows app data folder, under MarkdownViewPersonal/backups. They stay on your computer.

This website

This site does not include advertising scripts, third-party analytics scripts, forms, or tracking cookies. When a download button is used, we record the time, package type (installer or portable ZIP), and app version to produce aggregate download-request counts. The counter does not store IP addresses, browser identifiers, or document contents. Repeat requests can count again; these totals do not measure unique people or completed installations. The hosting provider may retain routine web-server logs, such as IP addresses and requested pages, to operate the service. The site is prepared for hosting on GoDaddy.

The app includes open-source components. Their credits and license texts are provided with the download and on the software credits page.
